To the nearly 6,000 pedestrians who were killed last year autonomous vehicles may be key to saving future lives. Indeed, autonomous vehicles-AV are not a panacea for pedestrians taking increased caution whenever they are at risk especially at night (75%) along local streets (35%) and not at intersections (72%).* AV efforts, for the most part, are focused on major highways such as state, US and interstate, however, pedestrians are killed elsewhere and in darkness.
